Why this match matters in the league phase
Since the 2024 reform, the Champions League has brought 36 clubs together in a single league phase. Each team plays eight matches against eight different opponents. The top eight in the table qualify directly for the round of 16, while the teams placed 9th to 24th go into the play-offs.
By matchday 6, only two games remain after this one: every point can move a team between direct qualification and the play-offs. A trip to a Premier League side used to big European nights at home is one of the toughest fixtures on PSG’s schedule.
Villa Park, a historic ground
Villa Park has been Aston Villa’s home since the end of the 19th century. It is one of the most iconic grounds in English football, in the heart of Aston, north of Birmingham. On European nights, the atmosphere is known for being especially intense.
